Date : Wednesday March 11th
Location : Healesville Sanctuary, http://www.zoo.org.au/healesville
Time : 12.30 pm to 5.00 pm
Fun fact - Wom-en-jika means welcome in the language of the Wurundjeri people, the traditional custodians of the sanctuary.
We drove away from downtown and made away to the Healesville Sanctuary.
The first animal we say was the Emu. They were REALLY BIG they were a bit taller than me.
We went down the main path and saw the koalas. There was a thing called magic moment where you could go into the area with the certain animal you bought the ticket for. We went in the area with benny the koala and he slept the whole time when we got our pictures taken. We couldn't touch him though because it would mess up his sleeping pattern go twenty hours. We saw thee other koalas one was a baby.
After the koalas we saw the kangaroos. Fun Fact - the mother kangaroo will throw they're joey (baby)
out of the pouch so the predator will eat the joey and she can escape the predator easily and have another joey. The female kangaroos will have joeys from the time they mature until the time they die.
We got to go in the roped of area and feed and pet the roos. There was one too that was soooo big it was massive you should have seen his muscles. especially in his tail. There was a certain type of kangaroo that we weren't supposed to touch or feed. There were two type of kangaroos in the roped of areas I don't remember the names but i do remember the colours. There was the brown kangaroo which were the ones we fed and then there was the fray ones which we weren't supposed to touch or pay any attention too.
Then there were the Dingoes. They look exactly like dogs but they are part of the wolf family.
They howl when the person that takes care of them goes to check on one of the other groups of dingoes because there are three groups, the oldest the middle and the youngest.
And all the other animals and exhibits we saw where, the bird show, the tasmanian devils, the wombats, the snakes, the rats, the platypus, the goannas, the wallabies and they're were other animals that we did not have time to see. While at the bird show the keepers spoke about a environmental initiative called Wipe for Wildlife. Wipe for Wildlife encourages the community to help save local wildlife, by making the switch to recycled toilet paper. Outside the bird stadium there was a poster board were you could put your head in and there was a super hero body. I had my picture taken as the super hero CRAP MAN...
However if you are in Australia you should go to one of the zoos they are really cool.
